With a change of club, the future of an NFL star is often clarified. In the case of Haason Reddick, however, things could turn out very differently. Are the New York Jets already threatening to strike their new star? Reddick was at least absent from media day.
The New York Jets start their mandatory training camp. Whether new addition Haason Reddick will be there is questionable so far. Although the star pass rusher only joined the Jets this offseason, his future is unclear.
The 29-year-old moved from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Jets this offseason for a conditional third-round pick in 2026. The team from New York also took on the outside linebacker’s contract.
This gives him an annual salary of 15 million US dollars and runs until the 2025 offseason, after which Reddick would be a free agent. However, the player appears to be aiming for a more long-term solution.
According to league information, he has not yet been present with his new team. Accordingly, he has already missed the voluntary start of training and thus also a potential bonus of 250,000 US dollars.
According to Matt O’Leary, Reddick was also the only player to miss the Jets’ mandatory media day. Whether he will appear at the upcoming mandatory workouts has yet to be determined.
When asked about the possible absence of the star defenseman, Jets head coach Robert Saleh was calm. On the sidelines of practice, he told reporters: “I’m focused on the guys that are here. Haason is a professional. He’s been in this league for a while. He’s played at a very high level for a long time. He has his routine. We know where he’s at and we know what he does. We know he’s trying to have a productive season. “
Reddick was drafted in the first round by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017. The pass rusher is entering his eighth NFL season. In 114 career games, he has recorded 58 sacks and 16 fumbles.
He was selected to the Pro Bowl in the last two seasons. After his time with the Cardinals, Reddick moved on to the Carolina Panthers. He then ended up with the New York Jets via the Eagles.
