Former NFL superstar Michael Vick expects Jalen Hurts to be particularly motivated in the Super Bowl in New Orleans. He has advice for his successor as quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Michael Vick believes that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts draws motivation from the defeat in the Super Bowl two years ago and is therefore particularly keen to win the 59th edition in New Orleans.
“I believe that deep down Jalen has the fire burning,” “When you lose a game like the Super Bowl, your goal is to get back there.”
Michael Vick’s advice: “Savor the moment”
The fact that Hurts has made it back to the final game for the Vince Lombardi Trophy with the Eagles impresses Vick. After all, Hurts is the first quarterback since 1991 to lose his Super Bowl debut and make it back.
“I know Jalen feels extremely blessed to be back and wants to make the most of this moment,” said Vick, who played in the NFL for 13 years. ‘I can only imagine how he feels, I never made it to this situation. If I could give him any advice, it would just be: enjoy the moment.’
Michael Vick draws comparison to Jalen Hurts
Vick draws his insights from his time with the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he made it to the Conference Finals in 2006, but failed with the Eagles.
“When I lost the NFC Championship Game all those years ago, I always thought I would make it back there,” said the current expert at the ‘FOX’ channel. ‘Nothing ever happened after that. Everyone knows how hard it is in the National Football League.’
Michael Vick first quarterback with 1,000 rushing yards
Vick ended his career in the NFL in 2017 after being drafted number one in 2001. In the meantime, the now 44-year-old had served a prison sentence for illegal dog fighting between 2007 and 2009.
During his time in the NFL, he was selected for the Pro Bowl four times and won the 2010 Comeback Player of the Year award.
In the 2006 season, he became the first quarterback to break the 1,000-rushing-yard mark and held the record of 1,039 before Lamar Jackson broke the record in 2019.
