NFL – Future of Travis Kelce: Teammate Charles Omenihu implores Chiefs star to continue

Travis Kelce is considering retirement after the Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. His teammate Charles Omenihu implores Kelce to hang on for at least another year.

It was just before the Super Bowl when rumors suddenly emerged that Travis Kelce’s final game could be his final appearance in the NFL. And this despite the fact that at the Media Night earlier that week, he stated that he would like to play for another two to three years.

In his podcast “New Heights”, Kelce confirmed that he needs “some time” to make a decision. His teammate Charles Omenihu has now spoken about retirement plans on “Fox”.

“My message to him would be: ‘Hey kid, we can’t stop like this’.” The defensive end will also become a free agent.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that he wants to convince Kelce to continue. “I think Travis still has a lot left in the tank, he’s very competitive and loves the game. With his incredible career, I don’t think he’s going to stop now.”

According to Omenihu, Kelce is not finished in the NFL: “I think he’ll give it another shot. We have players like Rashee Rice who come back. (…) Plus, Patrick Mahomes is our quarterback, so he knows we’ll be competing with the big boys.”

After all, Kelce and Mahomes have not missed an AFC Championship Game in seven years. That speaks for Kelce for another year. “It’s not like Kelce is unsure if we’ll make the playoffs. You can assume that we will most likely make the championship game.”
