Dallas Cowboys want to bring Super Bowl champion Andrew Whitworth back to the NFL

After the Super Bowl triumph with the Los Angeles Rams, Andrew Whitworth announced his career end. But now the injury-plagued Dallas Cowboys are knocking on the ex-O-lineman’s door.

Munich/Dallas – In February, Andrew Whitworth won the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams and then announced the end of his career.

About six months later, however, this is now wavering considerably. As the current TV expert admitted during the preseason game between the Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers, several teams have recently inquired about a possible comeback for the 40-year-old.

First and foremost: the Dallas Cowboys. Tyron Smith, their top O-lineman, is out for several months with a tear in his hamstring. A replacement is urgently needed. “It’s just a terrible thing,” Whitworth said of Smith: “He’s such a great player and a guy I’ve always enjoyed watching play.”

Decision on comeback is not Whitworth’s own

Recently, Whitworth has jokingly flirted with a return to the NFL. The final decision, however, would not be up to him. “The problem is, they called the wrong person. You better call my wife Melissa and the kids and text them. Because they have the final say on whether I’ll ever play football again,” the four-time Pro Bowler reveals.

The O-lineman played a total of 16 years in the NFL. After eleven years with the Cincinnati Bengals, the move to the Rams followed in 2017.

It now remains to be seen whether a third team will find a place on his CV.
