Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Commanders, is hitting the – desperate – attack. According to reports, the 57-year-old revealed to close associates that he had private investigators targeting various NFL team owners and commissioner Roger Goodell.
Munich – Dan Snyder allegedly has secret information about other NFL team owners and Commissioner Roger Goodell. The Washington Commanders owner allegedly obtained this information through private investigators.
An associate close to him told “ESPN” that Snyder revealed in a conversation that he had found enough secrets to cause an earthquake in the league.
Dan Snyder: “NFL is a mafia “
“You can’t mess with me,” Snyder reportedly said in a private conversation. Even against his old friend and mentor Jerry Jones, Snyder is said to have something on him. “The NFL is a mafia […], all the owners hate each other,” were probably Snyder’s words to another employee.
According to the “ESPN” report, sources close to the league say the NFL is aware that Snyder is having some owners investigated. There is no exact number, but it is said to be “at least six” team owners.
NFL: No direct comment from Snyder on allegations
Neither Snyder, nor his wife, nor the Washington Commanders commented directly, but denied the allegations through team spokesmen:
“This is absolutely false. Hes got no information about any other team owners,” said John Brownlee and Stuart Nash, two attorneys representing the franchise.
Brisky timing of revelations
Brisque, above all, is the timing of the possible revelations. Next Tuesday, the NFL gathers in New York for a league meeting. From earlier reports, there were already indications that some other team owners and league officials want Snyder removed from his position as owner of the Commanders.
Apparently, according to the report, some owners see Snyder’s behaviour as a “desperate tactic” to “scare them and keep them from voting against him.” The NFL needs a two-thirds majority (24 of 32 owners) to boot out a team owner and make them sell the franchise.
