Munich – The Arizona Cardinals and Kyler Murray have agreed to a long-term deal. Ahead of the final year of his rookie contract, the quarterback will sign a five-season deal starting in 2023.

This is reported by “ESPN” reporter Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the “NFL Network”. According to Schefter, the contract is worth 230.5 million US dollars, 160 million of which is guaranteed.

With an average annual salary of 46.1 million US dollars, Murray thus becomes the number two coal king in the NFL after Patrick Mahomes, who renewed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 for 500 million US dollars over ten years.


Murray has thrown 70 touchdown passes

Murray came into the NFL as a first-overall pick in 2019, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in his first season and most recently being selected to two consecutive Pro Bowls. The 24-year-old last led his team to the playoffs for the first time, where they suffered a 34-11 defeat at the hands of the eventual champion Los Angeles Rams.

After 47 NFL games, Murray has 11,617 passing yards for 70 touchdowns with 36 interceptions and 1,792 rushing yards for 20 touchdowns. His rookie contract is worth 35.6 million US dollars. In 2023, Murray will collect 29.7 million US dollars via the Fifth Year Option alone, and from 2024 onwards, the big notes will start to flutter into the till.
