Did Ron Rivera not want to bring Carson Wentz to Washington at all? After the Commanders’ head coach was asked this question at the post-game press conference against the Chicago Bears, the 60-year-old left the PK in a rage
Munich – The good mood after the 12:7 win at the Chicago Bears was quickly gone for Ron Rivera. A reporter’s question about whether team owner Dan Snyder had made sure to draft quarterback Carson Wentz caused the Washington Commanders head coach to throw a little tantrum.
“Everybody says I didn’t want anything to do with Carson. I’m the damn guy who looked at the analytics and the tape and freaked out – when we were in Indianapolis. And that’s what pisses me off. Because the young man didn’t deserve that,” the 60-year-old told reporters.
After this statement, he thanked the journalists present and ended the press conference.
The questions about Wentz, however, should not have surprised Rivera. Before the game against the Chicago Bears, he publicly stated that the Commanders’ biggest problem at the moment was their quarterback. A short time later, Rivera rowed back and explained that he had been “misunderstood”.

Wentz, on the other hand, turned in a rather poor performance against the Chicago Bears but made it clear after the game how much he loves playing under Rivera: “I have a lot of respect for him. Playing for him is even better. He says what he thinks, is direct and gets to the point. That means a lot in this business. The guys love that about him,” Wentz said.

In week seven, the Washington Commanders will face the Green Bay Packers. Whether Carson Wentz will still be the starting quarterback then, the coming days will show.
