As “ESPN” insider Adam Schefter reports, the Washington Commanders have retained defensive tackle Daron Payne for the upcoming season. Under the franchise tag, the 25-year-old will earn $18.937 million as it currently stands.

Payne was selected by Washington in the first round with the 13th pick in the 2018 draft and played under the fifth-year option within his rookie deal last season.
The “Big Man” also participated in the 2023 Pro Bowl as a replacement for injured Rams star Aaron Donald.
