San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy likely on schedule after injury – could play in first game

Brock Purdy is currently in rehab working on his comeback. A return of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback for the first game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers is probably realistic.

The 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is still recovering from an elbow injury suffered in the Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 23-year-old is currently working on his comeback in Jacksonville and is on schedule to return to the field at the start of the regular season. At least that’s what Matt Maiocco of “NBC Sports Bay Area” reports on the “Murph and Mac” show.

San Franciso 49ers: Will Purdy return as early as training camp?

“It looks like there are no incidents. Everything seems to be working towards September 10,” they say. Accordingly, Head Coach Kyle Shanahan and Co. hope that Purdy will possibly be able to complete parts of training camp as early as the end of August.

A few weeks later, the 49ers will play their first game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to Purdy, who took over last season after Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury and played surprisingly strong, the squad also includes Sam Darnold and Trey Lance.
