Tom Brady reveals worst opposing defence of his career

Quarterback superstar Tom Brady has played against numerous defences in his career. But he still hasn’t forgotten the defence of one particular team.

Munich – There have been numerous top defenses in the NFL over the past 20 years. Tough defensive alliances that have spread fear and terror. That have annoyed even a GOAT like Tom Brady beyond belief.

Which defence is the one that has stuck in his mind the most during his time with the New England Patriots? Brady goes way back.

“The early Miami defenses: 2000 to about 2005,” the 44-year-old said on “Monday Night Football” on “ESPN. “

Hard early years

The early years of his career, then, against players like defensive end Jason Taylor and linebacker Zach Thomas and a secondary built around cornerbacks Patrick Surtain and Sam Madison and safeties Arturo Freeman and Brock Marion.

“They put up the same line, the same coverage, and I think the worst games of my career were against the Dolphins. 79 yards passing, 115 yards passing. We couldn’t complete any passes. It was embarrassing. And they didn’t do anything different.”

The memory doesn’t fool him.

In 2004, he totaled just 76 yards in a Patriots win over Miami, and in three of his nine games against the Dolphins through 2005, he had fewer than 110 yards.

Modest Stats

After all, the Patriots won six of the nine games. Statistically, though, Brady’s bottom line was actually less than stellar. He got 55.4 percent of his balls to the man, threw for 164 yards on average, 13 touchdowns and ten interceptions with a passer rating of 76.6.

That’s the kind of thing that sticks in the mind. Even after almost 20 years.
