Köln (SID) – Amon-Ra St. Brown has won the German brother duel in the National Football League and is slowly developing into a star with the Detroit Lions. The 22-year-old wide receiver caught his sixth touchdown of the season in the Lions’ surprising 37-30 win over the Green Bay Packers, the team clearly favoured by his older brother Equanimeous (25), on Sunday. Never before had a German professional made it into the end zone more than once.
His father John obviously wanted to distribute his sympathies fairly – he wore a jersey in the stands that was sewn together from the shirts of both teams. Equanimeous St. Brown didn’t play a role, but he moves on to the playoffs with the NFC’s best team (13-4 wins) as a promising title contender. The Lions (3-13-1) have long been odds-on, but they are the NFL’s second-weakest team and the No. 2 seed in the next draw for top talent.
The Tennessee Titans snatched first place in the AFC and a bye week from the Kansas City Chiefs with a shaky 28-25 win at the Houston Texans. The Indianapolis Colts, with their eyes on the play-offs, embarrassed themselves in a 26-11 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
