After the debates about their controversial team name, the Washington Redskins from the NFL have to deal with new accusations.

After the debates about their controversial team name, the Washington Redskins from the US professional football league NFL have to deal with new accusations. According to a report in the Washington Post, 15 former employees of the club complain about sexual harassment at work. The accusations are directed against scouts and close confidants of team owner Daniel Snyder.

“The content of the reports is serious, disturbing and contrary to NFL values,” the league stated in a statement Friday. “Everyone in the NFL has the right to work in an environment that is free from all forms of harassment,” it continued.

An external lawyer had been hired by the club and was to conduct a “thorough investigation of the allegations”. The Redskins had promised their full cooperation. After the investigation, the NFL wants to “take action based on the results”.

Recently, the Redskins had reacted to increasing public pressure and announced the change of the club’s name. As the franchise confirmed on Monday, it will give up its previous name (“Redskins”) and logo. Majority owner Snyder and head coach Ron Rivera were already working on a new name and a new design, the statement continued.
