Seattle Seahawks defeat New York Giants – worries about Jamal Adams

The Seattle Seahawks got their third win in the fourth game. They beat the New York Giants 24-3, with Jamal Adams’ comeback lasting only a handful of plays.

The Seattle Seahawks lived up to their role as favourites in week three. The Seahawks won clearly and deservedly at the New York Giants with 24:3.

However, the victory was overshadowed by the personnel situation of Jamal Adams. The strong safety, who made his comeback after more than a year, had to leave after only nine plays with a concussion. He had to go through concussion protocol after a collision on the Giants’ opening drive.

Quarterback Geno Smith (13/20 passing, 110 yards, one touchdown) also had to leave the field temporarily with an ankle injury, but returned a short time later. Drew Lock did well in Smith’s absence (2/6, 63 yards).

Kenneth Walker scored a rushing touchdown in addition to his 79 rushing yards on 17 runs. The other touchdowns came from DK Metcalf (three catches for 34 yards) and rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who carried his first career interception into the end zone for 97 yards. Safety Quandre Diggs intercepted another ball.

Witherspoon was joined by future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner, who not only had two sacks of Daniel Jones but also 17 tackles.

Giants’ offence lets their own defence down again

The Giants’ offence, meanwhile, again disappointed across the board. In the absence of running back Saquon Barkley, once again no running game went, Daniel Jones was the Giants’ leading rusher (66 yards on ten runs). Barkley stand-in Matt Breida collected just 30 yards on 14 runs, but he was Leading Receiver with 48 receiving yards.

The quarterback was accurate (27/34 passes received) but not efficient with only 203 passing yards. That’s only about six yards of space gained per pass. In addition to the redzone interception, he lost a fumble and was sacked eleven times.

Star receiver Darren Waller (three catches for 21 yards) and preseason discovery Jalin Hyatt (two catches for ten yards) were mostly invisible. Pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is the only bright spot with two sacks.

The Giants take on the Miami Dolphins in week five, the Seahawks are one of the first teams to have a bye week.
