Steve Keim, former general manager of the Arizona Cardinals, shared an interesting anecdote with Colin Cowherd about his pre-draft meeting with Nick Bosa.

Nick Bosa has been one of the best defenders in the NFL since his debut season. Even before the 2019 draft, the now San Francisco 49ers star was considered the absolute top player at his position. Still, the Arizona Cardinals, who held the first pick in the draft at the time, opted for quarterback Kyler Murray. Bosa went to California at number two.

It was a decision the defensive end had predicted before the draft, as then-Cardinals general manager Steve Keim now revealed to sportswriter Colin Cowherd: “When Kliff Kingsbury and I got together to meet players and have dinners, we went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and had dinner with Nick Bosa before the draft. We really liked him, of course. He was our highest rated player on the board. Amazing in every way.”

After dinner, Bosa issued a “warning” to Keim and Kingsbury that he has made good on regularly since: “He put his arm around me and Kliff Kingsbury and put us in a headlock. Then he said to me, ‘I think you’re going to take this little quarterback, and if you do, I’m going to haunt you for the rest of your career.'”

In seven games against the Arizona Cardinals so far, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year has totaled 24 tackles and three sacks. In four games, the 49ers walked off the field victorious.

In the upcoming season, however, Keim and Kingsbury will no longer have to worry about Nick Bosa. While Kingsbury was relieved of his duties as head coach after a disappointing season, Keim resigned for health reasons.
