San Francisco 49ers: Quarterback Nate Sudfeld must go – and collects two million US dollars

For the San Francisco 49ers, experienced quarterback Nate Sudfeld did not make the 53-man squad. Nevertheless, he will cash in – due to a clause in his contract.

San Francisco/Munich – Trey Lance is probably number one, Jimmy Garoppolo number two. The quarterback situation for the San Francisco 49ers is luxurious.

So on cutdown day, the only question was: who will be number three? In the end, GM John Lynch’s front office opted for rookie Brock Purdy and against the experienced Nate Sudfeld.

A choice that costs money. It was only in March that the 49ers signed Sudfeld to a new contract. One year, two million US dollars. All guaranteed.

With the dismissal, the money is now gone. The 28-year-old quarterback, on the other hand, can look forward to a hefty sum despite his farewell.
