Still keeping Deebo Samuel away from the San Francisco 49ers despite a valid contract. GM John Lynch makes it clear, however, that he sees the wide receiver’s future only in the Bay Area.
Munich/San Francisco – In the poker over the future of wide receiver Deebo Samuel, John Lynch has put his foot down.
The general manager of the San Francisco 49ers made it clear in the “Dwight Clark Legacy Series” that the franchise’s best offensive player could kiss a trade goodbye.
“We didn’t trade him, and I’d be crazy to let him go. Yes, Deebo will be part of the 49ers this season,” Lynch said in response to a question from “NBC” to that effect.
On “The Athletic,” Lynch hinted that the two sides had recently reached out to each other.
John Lynch on Deebo Samuel: “We will get together “
“I think we will come together there. I’m excited about the fact that we’ll be working with Deebo in the future as well,” Lynch is quoted as saying in a tweet by David Lombardi.
Samuel is facing the final year of his rookie contract in San Francisco but has been demanding a trade since April.
As US media reports, it’s not just to do with a demand for a better-paying working paper.
As reported by Ian Rapoport of “NFL Network”, the 26-year-old is more concerned with how he is used by the 49ers.
Is Deebo Samuel coming to mini-camp?
While he officially plays the wide receiver position, he also has to take over running back duties on a consistent basis and is said to be anything but happy about it.
A first indication of how things will go with him and the Niners could be a three-day mini-camp that starts on 13 June.
So far, he has not been involved in any offseason activities with the team.
