Sale of Washington Commanders turns into a farce: Dan Snyder may be antagonising other NFL owners

Owner Dan Snyder is reportedly putting conditions on the sale of the Washington Commanders, antagonising other NFL owners. Other team owners led by Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys could now force Snyder to sell, speeding up the faltering transaction process.

The Washington Commanders are for sale. Initial offers to take over the franchise are said to have already been made.

And yet, tensions are said to be growing between the franchise’s still-owner, Dan Snyder, and the NFL’s other franchise owners.

As reported by the “Washington Post”, Snyder is said to have put concrete conditions on the other team owners to release him from any legal liability and other costs in the future in the event of a sale of the franchise.

A hoax, as the Commanders claimed in an official statement shortly after the news broke. “The story published tonight in the Washington Post about the Washington Commanders’ transaction process is simply untrue,” the franchise stated.

Despite the public contradiction by the team, speculation persists about a heating conflict within the franchise ownership.

Washington Commanders: are NFL owners forcing Dan Snyder to sell?

According to the report, Snyder’s demands for compensation for a sale have angered some owners. “Pro Football Talk” also picks up on the report, pointing out that they have also reportedly upset NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

The “Washington Post” further reports that the owners would try to force Snyder to sell the team if necessary if he does not do so voluntarily. The report also indicates that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could act as a go-between and negotiate a quicker deal to finally end the months-long turmoil surrounding the Commanders and Dan Snyder the person.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is said to be very interested in buying the franchise. However, Snyder is said to reject any offers from Bezos as a matter of principle, since Bezos, with his private investment company Holdings LLC, has also been the owner of the “Washington Post” since 2013, in addition to his sales empire.

The medium was instrumental in exposing years of misogynistic working conditions within the Washington franchise under the leadership of owner Snyder.
