Head coach Matt LaFleur has announced that Jordan Love will be given preference over Aaron Rodgers for the Green Bay Packers in the preseason. Due to the uncertainty on the O-Line, the coach doesn’t want to take any chances with his star quarterback.
Munich – According to a report from “TSN”, Head Coach Matt LaFleur has confirmed that Aaron Rodgers will not play for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL preseason.
The four-time MVP will thus in all likelihood remain without a preseason call-up since 2018. In place of the star quarterback, Jordan Love will get his playing minutes – as he did last season, LaFleur explained.
Packers O-Line banged up
LaFleur had already determined that the 2020 first-round pick will start in Friday night’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.
According to the report, the reason for the decision is uncertainty on the offensive line. The Packers are currently without left tackle David Bakhtiari and right tackle Elgton Jenkins. Both players are currently still on the PUP list following knee surgeries.
LaFleur doesn’t want to take any chances with Rodgers
With Rodgers, LaFleur probably would have chosen only plays in preseason games that wouldn’t put the reigning MVP in danger. Last season, the 38-year-old had 37 touchdowns and four interceptions for 4,115 yards thrown.
