Are things getting serious between Jeff Bezos and the Washington Commanders?

The Washington Post reports the Amazon founder has hired investment firm Allen & Company to explore a possible bid for the NFL franchise.

The firm knows a thing or two about takeovers in football: it handled the sale of the Panthers to David Tepper and the Broncos to the Walton-Penner Group. Both owners are currently the richest in the league.

But that would change abruptly if Bezos were to come to the NFL. The Amazon founder has amassed a fortune of nearly $120 billion – and is the third richest person in the world.

Synder apparently won’t sell to Bezos

That the “Washington Post” report is accurate seems likely: Bezos owns the newspaper.

This has also already caused discomfort for Daniel Snyder, current owner of Commanders.

He would reportedly prefer not to sell to Bezos, possibly believing that the “Washington Post” reported negatively on him in order to allow Bezos to buy the team.

But with the right offer, such animosities are unlikely to matter.

Fierce accusations against current Commanders owner

Snyder’s appearance in the headlines has more than just to do with the possible sale of Commanders.

But mostly because of his alleged misconduct in the workplace – he is accused of sexually abusing female employees. The Washington Post broke the story.

The allegations could lead his co-owners at Commanders to push him out of the franchise and force a sale.
