Odell Beckham Jr. goes through Free Agency injured: where does the star receiver end up?

Injured star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. continues to be a free agent. That’s got the rumour mill churning – and it’s also putting other players on notice.

Munich – A tweet is often enough.

One, two sentences, sometimes even just one word are then enough to get the NFL world in a tizzy or to boost rumours.

That’s why it probably wasn’t just “a random thought” that Odell Beckham Jr. had and shared on Twitter. It was about the trade of quarterback Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts.

Odell Beckham Jr: “Something special” in Indy

OBJ expects Ryan to do “something special” in Indy.

Titling Beckham a receiver the draft with a fire emoji is suspicious in itself. That he’s also a free agent promptly gets the rumour mill bubbling.

The problem: Beckham tore his cruciate ligament during his L.A. Rams’ Super Bowl victory, the second in just one and a half years, and in the same knee. He will not return to the field until later in the new season. OBJ and the Los Angeles Rams had assured each other they wanted to move on, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything – Von Miller sends his regards.

After all, the initial word was that the deal would be inked before the start of Free Agency. Then the Rams suddenly brought in Allen Robinson, but then parted ways with Robert Woods. According to ESPN, the Rams still have enough money to bring Beckham back and want to do so.

General manager Les Snead confirmed Tuesday. “He’s someone we definitely want back,” Snead said. “The situation is a little more complex because of the injury. If Odell is ready to play, we would love for him to be a part of the Rams.”

Signed, therefore, remains nothing.

“Flirtation” with Matthew Judon

Matthew Judon knows that, too, which is why the Patriots linebacker is posing as a “scout.” Beckham is not the first free agent Judon wants to lure to Foxborough.

For that, Beckham is the only one who has responded wanting Judon to get a raise for his activities as a Pats scout.

"To all: we may have one," Judon wrote.

It's important to note: OBJ almost ended up with the Patriots last fall after parting ways with the Cleveland Browns.

OBJ: Almost ended up with the Patriots

He was on the phone with coach Bill Belichick at the time. "For him to call me, for me to talk to him on the phone about football - what more could you ask for?" said Beckham in February. "I was very close. That was one of the teams that was there. But I felt like [Los Angeles] was my home."

What Beckham can still pull off when he feels like home has been impressive. In eight games during the regular season, he caught 27 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns. In the playoffs, en route to a Super Bowl victory, he caught 26 more passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

The athletic comeback after dreary years in Cleveland has also been registered by other teams. Which is why there is also speculation about a move to the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints or Atlanta Falcons.

That's how it is when the future of a top star is open. All it takes to start a rumour is a tweet.
