No NFL home game: Seattle Seahawks part ways with Aaron Donkor

For Aaron Donkor the dream of an NFL home game in Munich is shattered. The Seattle Seahawks part ways with the German linebacker.

Munich – For professional football player Aaron Donkor the dream of an NFL home game in Munich has burst. The linebacker from Göttingen was released by the Seattle Seahawks just under a week and a half before the start of the season on the night of 8 to 9 September from 1:45. Now other teams have the chance to get the 27-year-old.

Seattle will play star quarterback Tom Brady’s debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Allianz Arena on 13 November. “Munich is the best place for the first German NFL game,” Donkor had recently posted on Instagram, wearing an FC Bayern jersey in the photo of the post.

Donkor joined the Seahawks’ training squad last year through the International Pathway Programme for foreign talent. Before his football career, he had made it as a second-league basketball player with BG Göttingen.

NFL teams must cut their rosters to 53 players by Tuesday. Donkor fell victim to this measure.
