NFL: Washington Commanders to play another international game in 2026

The NFL will once again be presenting regular season games abroad next year. The Washington Commanders will play one of these games as the home team.

The Washington Commanders will play another international game next year, following on from 2025.

This was revealed by Commanders President Mark Clouse to “The Athletic.” This will be the first time the Washington team has played a game outside the US in two consecutive years.

“The NFL has clearly shown that there is a market for this,” Clouse said. “It allows the franchise to reach a new audience and expand on a much more global level.”

Unlike the game a few days ago in Madrid, when they were the away team in a 13-16 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Commanders will play next year’s game as the home team.

Washington Commanders: Exact location for 2026 not yet known

This will be the third game that the franchise from the US capital has played abroad. In 2016, they tied 27-27 with the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley Stadium in London. Like that game, this year’s game against the Dolphins went into overtime.

The exact location of the Commanders’ game is not yet known. What is known is that it will not be in the United Arab Emirates. The Commanders hold the marketing rights in the Gulf state, but no game will take place there in the near future, according to Gerrit Meier, managing director of NFL International, as reported by The Athletic.
The Los Angeles Rams will also be the home team in an International Game next year. According to the NFL, they will play the first NFL game on Australian soil in Melbourne in 2026. In January, the league will announce further details about the 2026 International Series. The exact schedule will then follow in May as part of the official schedule announcement for the coming season.
