Tight end Robert Tonyan has signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with tight end Robert Tonyan on a contract.
The two “ESPN” reporters Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler agree on this.
The 30-year-old also completed a workout with the Tennessee Titans this week, but decided to sign with the Vikes.
Tonyan played for the Chicago Bears last season and recorded 11 receptions for 112 receiving yards in 17 games.
Nothing is yet known about the details of the contract in Minnesota. He will provide depth at the position behind star T.J. Hockenson.
Tonyan signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2017, but was released shortly thereafter and recalled to the practice squad during the season. He subsequently played for the Green Bay Packers for several years.
Although the tight end never played a game for the Lions, he was under contract with every team in the NFC North after signing with the Vikings.
