NFL: Thriller in the desert! Green Bay Packers topple Arizona Cardinals

The Green Bay Packers defeat the previously undefeated Arizona Cardinals to open the 8th day of play. An interception seconds before the end of the game decides the game.

Glendale – The last undefeated team has fallen. The Green Bay Packers defeated the previously unblemished Arizona Cardinals 24-21.

It was a real thriller to open Game 8.

The Cardinals were at the Packers’ end zone with seconds to go and could have forced overtime with a field goal. But Kyler Murray dared a last pass into the end zone – and was picked by Rasul Douglas – interception, Packers football, end.

Packers fail at the 1-yard line

Before the Packers had almost given away the victory. First, Aaron Jones’ would-be touchdown to make it 30-21 with about three and a half minutes on the clock was called back and the ball was put on the 1-yard line.

The Packers played off all four attempts but failed – partly because of a delay-of-game penalty and a tipped pass attempt.

A bitter sequence, especially in view of the fact that Green Bay had shown itself to be very effective beforehand. Aaron Rodgers, in the absence of his three best receivers, threw for a solid 184 yards and two touchdowns – both to Randall Cobb – with no interceptions. By comparison, Arizona recorded a total of three turnovers.

Green Bay’s running game was a force: Jones, A.J. Dillon, Aaron Rodgers and namesake Amari combined for 151 yards. As a result, the Packers controlled the ball for 37 minutes.
