NFL – Stefon Diggs on the Lookout: A “Return” to the Washington Commanders?

Back home? As Stefon Diggs searches for a new team, there’s nothing stopping him from doing so.

Will Stefon Diggs join the Washington Commanders? In an interview with “FOX 5,” he makes it clear that there’s nothing standing in his way.

Following his acquittal on assault charges, Diggs faces no punishment from the NFL. For the veteran wide receiver, this means he has the opportunity to find a new team before training camp begins.

There’s currently a lot of speculation about a possible move to the Commanders. And for good reason.

After all, Washington definitely needs another receiver alongside Terry McLaurin. Plus, Diggs—who was born right near Washington—has many fans back home.

“I never realized how many fans I had back home until I became a free agent and people asked, ‘Are you coming back home?’” the 32-year-old said in the interview.

“That would definitely be a special moment”

In any case, Diggs still seems to identify with the city and its people: “I’ve spent my whole life here.”

So it’s no wonder that Diggs himself has toyed with the idea of a return: “There’s a lot of hope. We’re currently working through that and thinking some things through. A small part of me actually thought, ‘Damn, it would be great to come home and play in front of the fans I played in front of as a young teenager in college, and just do something for the city,’” the wide receiver admitted.

He also said: “That would definitely be a special moment. Hopefully everything works out. We’ll see how it goes, but right now I’m open to anything.”

Whether a return will happen remains to be seen. In any case, there wouldn’t be much standing in the way.
