NFL: Seattle Seahawks – Head Coach Pete Carroll self-critical after loss to Chicago Bears

The Seattle Seahawks give away a ten-point lead in the last quarter against the Chicago Bears and lose 24-25 in the end. Head Coach Pete Carroll is self-critical afterwards.

Munich/Seattle – The Seattle Seahawks are struggling this season and with a record of 5-10, the playoffs are out of reach.

Against the Chicago Bears, where Nick Foles was the third quarterback to lead the offence, the Seahawks had another negative experience on Sunday. Head coach Pete Carroll’s team gave away a ten-point lead in the final quarter at home in Lumen Field, losing the game 24-25.

NFL: Seahawks squander ten-point lead

“We had control of the game so many times, should have won it and decided it. We failed to do that. We let them live and they found a way to make their plays,” head coach Pete Carroll is quoted as saying by “ESPN”.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was also disappointed with the loss and feels that the season was “definitely surprising”. His coach, however, did not see the team to blame for the tenth defeat of the season, but put the failure on his shoulders.

NFL: Head Coach Pete Carroll with self-criticism

“I take it as I have to do better. I don’t criticise the players for not responding – I have to respond better. I have to do more for them and help them better,” reflected Carroll.

His playmaker, meanwhile, was already looking ahead and announced a reappraisal. “We’ll wake up early tomorrow (Monday, ed.), give it our all, get back to work and watch the film. I’m already watching it at night and I’ll see where we can improve as a team and I can improve personally. Nothing will change about that,” Wilson said.

The chance to make amends for the bitter defeat comes on Sunday, when the Detroit Lions are guests on the West Coast.
