NFL playoffs 2025: Philadelphia Eagles beat Washington Commanders – Hurts and Barkley each score three touchdowns

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley run down the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.

The team of head coach Nick Sirianni beat the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game thanks to seven rushing touchdowns (NFL record – never has a team scored more in the NFC final) 55:23 (27:15).

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts scored three touchdowns on the ground and completed 20 of 28 passes for 246 yards.

Running back Saquon Barkley also scored three touchdowns. In the final game, the 27-year-old could set two records: He needs just three more receiving and 30 more rushing yards to tie the team records for most in a season.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels missed the Super Bowl as the first rookie ever to do so, finishing with 255 passing yards, one touchdown through the air and one on the ground, and one interception.

Eagles: Barkley and Hurts run out the victory

The Commanders started the game with the longest drive of their season: the visitors held the ball for 18 plays, over seven minutes and 54 yards, but only managed a field goal.

The Eagles’ response: Saquon Barkley. On Philadelphia’s very first play, the running back carried the ball 60 yards for a touchdown. On the Eagles’ second drive, the running back found the end zone again – 14:3.

In the middle of the second quarter, Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez converted a field goal from 46 yards, while Jake Elliott missed the poles from 54 yards – 14:6.

Then rookie sensation Daniels found Terry McLaurin for 36 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles trailed 14-6 after the Eagles failed the subsequent two-point conversion.

Shortly before half-time, Philadelphia struck back: Hurts was pushed into the end zone from one yard out. But the two-point conversion failed – 20:12.

After the Commanders fumbled the kickoff, the Eagles scored again: Hurts found A.J. Brown – 27:12. Shortly before halftime, Gonzalez cut the deficit to 27:15 from 42 yards out – the halftime score.

Commanders make too many mistakes

Hurts and Daniels traded touchdown runs at the start of the third quarter: First, the Eagles quarterback ran in for six points from nine yards, then the Commanders quarterback responded with a touchdown run from ten yards and a two-point conversion on Olamide Zaccheaus – 34:23.

Shortly before the start of the final quarter, the game was decided: During a promising drive by the Commanders, running back Austin Ekeler lost the ball – Washington’s third turnover led to Hurts’ third rushing touchdown and made the score 41:23.

Then Barkley was allowed to run again. The running back completed his personal hat-trick – 48:23. Will Shipley scored the final touchdown of his career to make the final score.

In the Super Bowl on February 9, the Eagles will play against the Kansas City Chiefs, who narrowly defeated the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC final.
