NFL: Next mega contract? Arizona Cardinals want to keep Marquise “Hollywood” Brown long-term

A few months ago, the Arizona Cardinals secured wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from the Baltimore Ravens for a first-round pick and a third-round pick. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury let slip in an interview with “USA Today” that the pass receiver could be getting a new contract as early as now.

Munich – While he has yet to record a game for the Arizona Cardinals, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is already beckoning for a contract extension this offseason. The speedy wide receiver joined the team from Glendale just a few weeks ago, and general manager Steve Keim sent a first-round pick and a third-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in return.

The former first-round pick’s contract (including the fifth-year option) runs for two more years. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury made it clear in an interview with USA Today: “We’d like to extend him now. He’s going to be a pillar of our team for a long time.”

Marquise Brown: Soon to be one of the highest-paid receivers?

Brown should be in a good negotiating position. The Cardinals invested a lot of draft resources to pry him away from Baltimore and can ill afford not to give him a new contract. Moreover, receivers have been raking it in this offseason.

The 25-year-old Brown has amassed 2,361 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career so far. It’s quite possible that the Cardinals will make Antonio Brown’s cousin one of the highest-paid players at his position.
