In the Monday Night Football game of the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the division rival Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Bears were the more spectacular team, but ruined everything for themselves with three fumbles.
Munich/Chicago – The Chicago Bears lost their tenth game of the season in the Monday Night Football game of the 15th game day. They lost 9:17 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Bears don’t protect the ball
Justin Fields had a statistically good game with 320 total yards (one touchdown) but lost a fumble. Running back David Montgomery ran for only 60 yards on 18 attempts and also lost the ball once.
At least the defence played well: Robert Quinn and Akiem Hicks both had two sacks. Doen Bush in the defensive backfield caught an interception from Kirk Cousins. However, the offense could not capitalize on it, only the last drive also found the end zone.
This puts further pressure on head coach Matt Nagy, who was actually brought in as an “offensive guru”. His stay beyond the season is more than in question.
Vikings defence holds
On the other hand, head coach Mike Zimmer’s defence finally put in another strong performance. Three turnovers and only one single-digit point allowed, something the Vikings have never managed this year.
Kirk Cousins, on the other hand, returned only 50 percent of his balls for 87 yards – including two touchdowns and an interception. Dalvin Cook had 89 rushing yards on 28 attempts (3.2 average). The offense did what it had to do to win the game.
The Bears take on the Seattle Seahawks on Boxing Day, and the playoffs are out of the question, at least for Chicago. The Vikings take on the Los Angeles Rams on the same day, then it’s on to the playoffs for the Vikes.
