NFL – Minnesota Vikings invite son of legend Randy Moss to rookie minicamp

Randy Moss is a Minnesota Vikings legend. This year, his son Montigo will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of the NFL icon.

Randy Moss and the Minnesota Vikings once had a very special relationship. In the 1998 NFL Draft, Moss was selected 21st overall by the Vikings and went on to write his name in the franchise’s record books in the years that followed.

The wide receiver played seven seasons in Minnesota, only missing the 1,000-yard mark in his last full season with the Vikings. In 1998, 2000, and 2003, he led the NFL in touchdowns and was selected to the All-Pro team.

More than 20 years later, his son Montigo Moss now has the opportunity to make headlines at his father’s old stomping ground. The Vikings have officially invited Moss Junior to their rookie minicamp.

Greater success than his brother Thaddeus Moss?

Montigo Moss played a total of five years for the Maine Black Bears in the second-tier FCS division. Like his famous father, Montigo also plays wide receiver. In the 2024 season, he racked up 722 yards and seven touchdowns.

Before Montigo Moss, his older brother Thaddeus had already tried to make the leap to the NFL. The tight end was signed as an undrafted free agent by the then Washington Football Team in 2020.

However, Thaddeus Moss failed to make the roster in Washington or later with the Cincinnati Bengals and was released by both teams. After spending a year each in the USFL and CFL, he announced his retirement last year.
