German NFL pro Mark Nzeocha could make his season debut for the San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco/Munich – German NFL pro Mark Nzeocha may be set to make his season debut. The 31-year-old was called up to the active squad by the San Francisco 49ers for the game against the Houston Texans.

The linebacker was already under contract with the 49ers from 2017 until the 2020 season and even appeared in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2020, which was lost 20-31.

In the following season, however, he suffered from injury problems and only played in five games. The 49ers then declined a contract option for Nzeocha, making him a free agent and keeping him without a club for most of the current season.

The 49ers did not bring Nzeocha back until 29 December 2021, initially putting him on the practice squad before promoting him to the active roster.
