NFL: Los Angeles Rams roll over Arizona Cardinals and Kyler Murray

The Los Angeles Rams advance to the next round of the playoffs with an absolute show of force. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is having a day to forget in the emphatic defeat.

Los Angeles/Munich – Thanks to an impressive performance, the Los Angeles Rams punched their last remaining ticket to the Divisional Round. Head coach Sean McVay’s team dominated the Arizona Cardinals at home in SoFi Stadium and deserved to win 34:11.

Rams dominate game at will

The home side took control of the final game of the Wild Card round early on, with quarterback Matthew Stafford’s offence in particular quickly finding its rhythm.

Running back Cam Akers and star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. set the scene early, the latter completing the Rams’ second drive with his first playoff touchdown.

For Cardinals star Kyler Murray, his playoff debut could hardly have started worse: Trying to escape a safety, the 24-year-old playmaker threw the egg away in desperation, but the lame duck landed right in the arms of Rams defender David Long Jr. who was able to carry the ball into the end zone unthreatened.

With a clear 0:21 deficit Arizona went into the second half of the game.

Little changed after the change of ends: The Rams marched straight into the opponent’s end zone again, this time in the person of wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

With their ninth drive, the guests finally got on track. After about 40 minutes of play, running back James Conner scored the first points for Arizona, and thanks to a successful two-point conversion, the Cardinals cut the deficit to 8:28.

Two field goals by the Rams and one by the Cardinals finally made the final score 34:11.

Los Angeles Rams: Duel with Tampa Bay Buccaneers awaits

With 202 passing yards and two touchdowns, Stafford delivered a flawless performance and rightfully enjoyed the first playoff win of his career. His counterpart Kyler Murray could only get 19 of his 34 passes to the man and did not get more than 137 yards. Two interceptions rounded off the bitter performance of the 24-year-old.

The Rams will now face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and star quarterback Tom Brady

next Sunday.
