NFL: Los Angeles Rams – Cam Akers facing lightning comeback after Achilles tendon tear

The Los Angeles Rams may be able to call on Cam Akers again in the playoffs. The running back is set to make his comeback.

Munich – Will the Los Angeles Rams get another wild card on the roster just in time for the postseason? Cam Akers can hope to make his comeback.

The running back, who has been on the non-football injury list since late July, is being groomed to return, the franchise announced Thursday.

That means Akers now has three weeks to get into practice and make the jump to the active roster.

That possibility alone is a big surprise after Akers tore his Achilles tendon just before training camp in July – actually a season-ending injury at that late date. Now Akers is getting ready to return just five months after the tear.

“An incredible win “

“If we can get him back, it’s an unbelievable asset to our team,” head coach Sean McVay said back in October when the possibility of a return for the start of the playoffs was delicately hinted at.

The Rams have their sights firmly set on the postseason ahead of Sunday’s game at the Minnesota Vikings with a 10-4 record.

Last year’s second-round pick put together a strong first NFL year. He led the Rams with 145 carries for 625 yards as a rookie. He also played a big role in the postseason, contributing 46 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the two playoff games.

He was also projected to be his team’s No. 1 rusher this season. But then Akers got injured in a private practice session.
