Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has to leave the field with a finger injury in the game against the Rams. His counterpart also injures a finger, but continues the game.
Munich – In the Thursday Night Game of the 5th NFL game day, the hands of the quarterbacks were even more in focus than usual.
Seattle Seahawks playmaker Russell Wilson had to leave the game early due to a “badly sprained finger”, as coach Pete Carroll put it. But his counterpart from the Los Angeles Rams Matthew Stafford was also struggling with finger problems.
Even before Wilson was injured, L.A.’s passer also suffered a mishap. Stafford dislocated his index finger on his throwing hand, as he himself confirmed after the game. Subsequently, the athlete’s finger swelled up.
Stafford’s finger was straightened
Rams coach Sean McVay said after the game he needed more information first, but Stafford told him he was fine.
In the “FOX” interview after the game, Stafford explained, “I just looked down and the finger was a little far left. Then I pushed it back. Our guys then did a great job and gave me some tape. I was able to keep the finger warm with it and just keep playing.”
Late in the second quarter, the playmaker consulted a physiotherapist and initially wore a compression bandage before applying another bandage.
No impairment on Stafford
But it hardly affected the 33-year-old. “Not too much. I felt pretty good. I felt like it was working well. The finger was a little swollen, but they left the bandage on and I just played.”
Stafford outgained the Rams 26-17, completing 25 of 37 passes for 365 yards and a touchdown. He had one interception in the process.
