NFL: Green Bay Packers fight for Aaron Rodgers

After the play-off exit against the San Francisco 49ers, the future of Aaron Rodgers is completely uncertain. Where does the Packers legend’s career go from here? Retirement? Trade? Play for Green Bay again? One thing is clear: Head coach Matt LaFleur wants to do everything he can to keep Aaron Rodgers in Wisconsin.

Munich/Green Bay – Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Green Bay Packers remains uncertain. After the playoff exit against the San Francisco 49ers, the 38-year-old made it clear that he will not be part of a rebuild with the Packers. Even before the season, there were rumours that Rodgers wanted to leave the franchise. In addition, there were repeated discussions about his Corona immunisation during the season. Nevertheless, the position of those responsible is clear: Aaron Rodgers should stay.

Head Coach Matt LaFleur also stated this at a press conference: “Every conversation I’ve been involved in with ‘Gutey’ (Brian Gutekunst; GM), Russ (Ball; Director of Football Operations) and Mark (Murphy; Team President) has been clear. There’s no debate.”

LaFleur has already spoken with Rodgers, but would not divulge details of that conversation. He also said he’s not putting pressure on his quarterback: “I’m going to be respectful. Whatever he has to do to make the best decision for himself. We’d love for him to remain a ‘Packer’ and stay a ‘Packer’ until the day he retires. “

Matt LaFleur is desperate to get Aaron Rodgers back

“I’m going to do everything in my power to bring him back and make sure he’s happy with the way we’re going and sees that we can continue to have success,” the 42-year-old said.

Continuing, LaFleur explained, “There will be no rebuild. I don’t think that’s the intention of anyone here.” Still, the Packers face a difficult offseason. Besides Rodgers, the Wisconsin franchise could lose star wide receiver Davante Adams. The 29-year-old, who finished the season with 11 touchdowns and a career-best 1,553 receiving yards, becomes a free agent.

The Packers are well over the cap, even a franchise tag that would keep Adams for another year might not be possible given the cap situation. But even with that personnel, LaFleur remains optimistic: “Adams is another player we’d like to keep. I’ve said he’s earned the respect of all his teammates and coaches.”

So it’s completely unclear whether Green Bay will be able to welcome back its star duo next season. Aaron Rodgers did not speak to reporters during the traditional “exit interviews”. He is expected to speak for the first time on “The Pat McAfee Show”, on which he has been a regular guest this season. Perhaps he will shed some light on his future there.
