The drop in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles still haunts him today. As Tom Brady shared on his podcast before the Wild Card game against Philly, Eagles fans continue to remind him of the failed trick play on a regular basis.
Munich – Tom Brady hasn’t lost many important games in the NFL. As the most successful quarterback in league history, there are few he has left to prove anything to.
Because of his past successes, wins against Brady feel even bigger for the winning team in question. Especially when they succeed in the Super Bowl.
The New York Giants with Eli Manning and the Philadelphia Eagles managed to send the “GOAT” home as a loser with the New England Patriots in the most important game of the year. For the Eagles it was also the first NFL success in franchise history.
Unforgettable was the “Philly Special” with Nick Foles, who caught a pass in the end zone for a touchdown during a trick play. Something that Tom Brady did not manage in the same game. So Brady had to drop a pass from Danny Amendola for an important first down at the opponent’s 30-yard line.
Tom Brady: Try again in Wild Card game against Eagles?
It’s been just over four years since the Super Bowl, Brady won more titles after that, while the Eagles are going through a rebuild. Still, Philly fans can’t just let the greatest moment in franchise history be history.
Brady needs to be reminded of it. Day in and day out. That’s what he told his “Lets Go” podcast ahead of his Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Wild Card game against every Philadelphia Eagles. “I’m constantly reminded of the play,” the 44-year-old said. “Every time I meet an Eagles fan, I’m reminded of the drop.”

In doing so, the Bucs star also explained that he has to redeem himself from the play. “I give the ball to a receiver and he throws it to me. What could go wrong with that! I have to set the record straight, so assume you see the play.”
If Head Coach Bruce Arians agrees with the play, we could see the “Brady Special” again next weekend. Should Brady succeed, the jokes from Eagles fans would surely diminish.
