The Detroit Lions of the US American football league NFL have parted ways with cornerback Cameron Sutton. The club, which also features German pass receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, made the announcement via X on Thursday. The defensive back has been publicly wanted by police in Florida on charges of domestic violence by strangulation since Wednesday.
In the USA, this is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison. As ESPN reported, an arrest warrant had already been issued for the 29-year-old on March 7.
Sutton was traded to the Lions in 2023 and was a regular defensive player last season. Detroit only failed in the play-off semi-finals and narrowly missed out on their first Super Bowl appearance
