NFL: DeAndre Hopkins offers himself to Minnesota Vikings – reunion with Kyler Murray?

Experienced wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is still without an NFL team, but would love to play together with Kyler Murray once again. Will the Minnesota Vikings make this possible for him?

At 33, DeAndre Hopkins is not yet ready to end his career. The wide receiver wants to play for an NFL team again – and apparently has a favorite.

Hopkins told “TMZ” that he would like to play with quarterback Kyler Murray again and would therefore like to join the Minnesota Vikings.

“Kyler, that’s my brother, man,” Hopkins said. “Kyler is like family to me. Whatever I can do for someone like him – if Kyler needs me, if the Vikings need me, they know I’ll be there.”

This statement suggests Hopkins also believes Murray will prevail in the internal competition against J.J. McCarthy and enter the season as the starter.

Hopkins played with Murray for the Cardinals

Hopkins played alongside Murray for the Arizona Cardinals from 2020 to 2022. He had his best season there in 2020, playing in all 16 games and catching passes for 1407 yards. No wonder Hopkins longs to have Murray back as a passer.

The question, though, is whether the Vikings would have a spot for him in the lineup.

The depth chart is led by Justin Jefferson. Jordan Addison is No. 2 and is looking toward the final year of his first-round rookie contract. Jalen Nailor, previously used primarily as a slot receiver, left the franchise in free agency and has joined the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hopkins isn’t as effective as he was in previous seasons. He spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, where he only managed 330 receiving yards in 17 appearances.
