NFL: Brees is on for another year

Star quarterback Drew Brees will remain in the US professional football league NFL for another year.

Star quarterback Drew Brees will remain in the US professional football league NFL for another year. After speculation about the 41-year-old’s career ending, Brees put an end to the rumours. “Let’s take another run at it,” wrote the New Orleans Saints playmaker for Instagram. This marks the 20th season for Brees, and with 547 touchdown passes, the Texan-born is the record holder.

Brees played for the San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers) from 2001 to 2005 and has worn the Saints jersey since 2006, with which he won the Super Bowl in February 2010.

The team have been favourites for the title in previous years, but this year they finished in the first play-off round against the Minnesota Vikings.
