NFL: Dallas Cowboys in contract negotiations with Dak Prescott likely without significant progress

Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys. However, negotiations between the franchise and the quarterback are said to have made no significant progress

Will Dak Prescott become a free agent for the first time in his career?

As “ESPN” reports, the Dallas Cowboys and the quarterback have made no significant progress so far in terms of extending his contract, which expires after the 2024 season.

The 30-year-old had signed a four-year contract worth 160 million dollars in 2021.

The three-time Pro Bowler is expected to be on the verge of a big payday.

Dak Prescott: Record deal with the Cowboys?

Prescott, who led the league with 36 passing touchdowns in the preseason, could move him into the ranks of the top earners at his position.

Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions is another top playmaker who recently received a four-year, $212 million contract extension. This makes him only the fifth quarterback to earn at least 50 million dollars per season.

Prescott is also expected to achieve this. The only question is whether this will be the case in Dallas, or possibly elsewhere.

However, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones emphasized earlier this month that extending Prescott’s contract would be a priority, but added that these types of contracts “take time.”

“I firmly believe Dak can lead us to a championship. He’s doing everything the right way. He’s certainly the leader of this football team,” Jones continued.
