If he had the choice, the Texans quarterback would choose Eli Manning’s career. Even though he wasn’t even voted MVP for the season
If C.J. Stroud has his way, Eli Manning’s career should be rated higher than that of Aaron Rodgers.
The long-time quarterback of the Green Bay Packers has been voted NFL MVP four times.
But: “You want rings. Eli has two,” said the Houston Texans quarterback on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, comparing the number of titles both playmakers have won in their careers.
Manning won the Super Bowl twice with the New York Giants, while Rodgers only lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy once – in 2010 – with the Packers.
Manning, now 43, was named Super Bowl MVP in each of his triumphs, but has never won the award for an entire season.
The fact that Stroud rates Manning’s career higher than Rodgers’ suggests that he too would rather win championships with his team than individual honors.
In his rookie season in 2023, the 22-year-old led the Texans to the playoffs for the first time since 2019, only falling to the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round.
Duell with Rodgers in November
A duel with Rodgers, whom he considers one of the best players in NFL history despite the small number of titles, could come for him in the coming season in week 9 on November 1.
He and the Texans will then visit the New York Jets. Rodgers transferred there before the start of last season, before the now 40-year-old suffered a serious injury in the very first game that ended his season prematurely
