NFL: Atlanta Falcons hire Kevin Stefanski as new head coach

The Atlanta Falcons appear to have found their new head coach. Kevin Stefanski has signed a long-term contract with the Georgia-based club.

The new strong man at the Atlanta Falcons has shown his strength: Matt Ryan, the new president of football operations, has appointed Kevin Stefanski as the new head coach, according to The Athletic.

The contract for the former Cleveland Browns coach, who was fired after the season, is said to be for five years. Stefanski was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2020 and 2023. Ryan only took up his post on January 10. Atlanta has been waiting to make the playoffs since 2017, finishing the past two years with a record of 8-9 and the three years before that with 7-10.

After last season, coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot were let go. The GM position is still vacant, with Ian Cunningham, assistant general manager of the Chicago Bears, considered a candidate.
