Detroit Lions continue winning streak against New York Jets

The Detroit Lions continue their winning streak with a win over the New York Jets. The Kansas City Chiefs reach the playoffs. New Orleans add to the Atlanta Falcons’ woes.

Detroit Lions at New York Jets 20:17

Amon-Ra St. Brown can continue to hope for the playoffs with the Detroit Lions. The away win in New York was their third in a row and their sixth win in their last seven games. As a result, the Lions now have a record of seven wins and seven losses – just like the Jets.

The Jets took a 17-13 lead with 4:40 minutes left in the game on a pass from Zach Wilson to C.J. Uzomah. However, the Lions had the right answer. Jared Goff threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Brock Wright to put them ahead 20-17 with just 1:49 minutes left in the game.

Kicker Greg Zuerlein had to attempt a 65-yard field goal on the final play of the game, but missed.

St. Brown caught seven passes for 76 yards. Quarterback Jared Goff recorded 252 passing yards and one touchdown pass. Jets passer Wilson totaled 317 passing yards, two touchdown passes and one interception.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints 18-21

The Atlanta Falcons have lost their third straight game, worsening their record to five wins and nine losses. Rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder was unconvincing, completing just 13 of his 16 passes for 97 yards. One bright spot was the running game as Tyler Allgeier ran for 139 yards.

Andy Dalton, the Saints’ quarterback, threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns. All-purpose weapon Taysom Hill threw for another 80 yards and a touchdown. Two of the touchdown passes ended up in the arms of Juwan Johnson. The Saints also stand at 5-9 with the win.

Prior to the game, the Falcons experienced a scare as defensive coordinator Dean Pees collided with a play during warmups and had to be taken to the hospital.

Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears 25:20

The Philadelphia Eagles, already qualified for the playoffs, continued their winning run against the Chicago Bears, improving their record to 13 wins with only one loss. The Bears, on the other hand, who have long since bowed out of the playoff race, concede their seventh loss in a row and stand at a record of 3-11.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts ran for all three touchdowns and also recorded 315 yards, but also threw two interceptions. Wide receiver A.J. Brown caught passes for 181 yards. Bears quarterback Justin Fields threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns, also rushing for 95 yards.

Equanimeous St. Brown, the Bears’ German wide receiver, had to be removed from the game because of a suspected concussion after he returned his first catch for a 20-yard gain in space.

Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans 30-24 after overtime

The Kansas City Chiefs struggled against the Houston Texans but secured their place in the playoffs with the win. Jerick McKinnon scored the decisive touchdown in overtime.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes delivered a strong game with 336 passing yards, two touchdown passes and a touchdown run himself. His favourite touchdown target was Travis Kelce, who caught passes for 105 yards.

Davis Mills, the Texans’ passer, only threw passes for 121 yards, but did get two touchdowns. The Chiefs now stand at a record of 13-3, the Texans at 1-12-1.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers 24:16

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a close win over the Carolina Panthers. Quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for 179 yards and ran once for a touchdown in the end zone. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren did the same.

Sam Darnold, the Carolina Panthers’ quarterback, recorded 225 passing yards and one touchdown pass. The running game was barely present with only 21 yards of space gained. Pittsburgh is now at six wins and eight losses, the Panthers at 5-9.
