The New York Giants will be without Sterling Shepard for the rest of the season. The wide receiver has torn his anterior cruciate ligament through no fault of his own. That’s why ex-Giants player Odell Beckham Jr. is now calling for the elimination of artificial turf in the NFL.

Munich – Bitter news for the New York Giants! Wide receiver Sterling Shepard has torn his cruciate ligament against the Dallas Cowboys. The 29-year-old suffered the injury on his team’s final offensive play without any opposition and will miss the rest of the season. This was confirmed by Head Coach Brian Daboll.

For Shepard, it’s the next serious injury after tearing his Achilles tendon last year. “It’s a tough sport. Guys work their butts off to come back from injuries. It hurts you for these guys because you watch them rehab, you watch them in the offseason. It’s just a shame,” Daboll said of his receiver’s injury.

Teammate Darius Slayton also expressed deep sadness, “It’s tough. I’m not going to lie. It’s hard not to be upset about it. He’s been here since the first day I was drafted. He did a lot for me as a young man. And then I had to see how hard he fought to get back on the court last year after tearing his Achilles tendon in rehab training. It’s definitely hard to see that. “

Shepard has been the “G-Men’s” best pass receiver through the first three games of the season, collecting 154 receiving yards so far.

A total of 13 of the NFL’s 30 stadiums have artificial turf.

The Giants must now hope Slayton, Richie James, Wan’Dale Robinson, Kadarius Toney or Kenny Golladay take over Shepard’s production. In week four, New York will face the Chicago Bears.
