The New York Giants apparently want to extend Daniel Jones. The 25-year-old would cash in handsomely, according to ESPN
What are the New York Giants doing at the quarterback position: signing a new playmaker or extending Daniel Jones?
The 25-year-old played his best season for the Giants in 2022, but is still not without controversy in the “Big Apple”. His contract expires and he would be a free agent in March.
He completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns, had only five interceptions and his quarterback rating was in the top ten in the league. He also rushed for 708 yards and seven more touchdowns.
He was a key component in the Giants reaching the playoffs after five years of double-digit losses. His positive development could not be overlooked under Head Coach Brian Daboll.
However, his problems, which were particularly evident again in the emphatic Divisional Round loss to Philadelphia Eagles, once again drew critics who do not see Jones as the long-term solution for the G-Men.
New York Giants convinced of Daniel Jones
But apparently the Giants are convinced of Jones and his potential. According to “ESPN”, he is expected to sign a long-term and lucrative contract that is expected to pay him around $35 million per year
That would catapult him into the top ten in the league in terms of salary. A deal is expected to be done before the official start of the new season in mid-March.
