New Orleans Saints: Taysom Hill can’t remember hard hit

In week five, Saints quarterback Taysom Hill is hit hard in the head and hasn’t played a game since. Now the 31-year-old says he has no recollection of what happened

Munich – Saints quarterback Taysom Hill has now missed a full three games due to a head injury. In week five, the 31-year-old suffered a concussion in the game against the Washington football team.

Now, the Saints’ all-purpose weapon has spoken out about the incident at the time, saying he doesn’t remember the 45 minutes after the hit. “I remember the route, I remember the play, that’s about it,” Hill said, speaking to US reporters.

Hill can’t remember

And continued, “I was never unconscious, but I don’t remember it. There is a window of about 45 minutes that I don’t remember anything about. I remember being in the dressing room, that was the first thing. It’s not an ideal situation when you get a blow like that and then you have a memory gap. Any time you deal with head injuries, it’s a scary thing,” Hill continued.

Still, the Saints pro stressed that at no point did he doubt he would recover. “I never felt like my full recovery was in danger.”

The 31-year-old was hit full force in the head by Washington cornerback William Jackson while trying to catch a pass. The referees penalised him and the football team for unnecessary harshness.

No apology from Jackson

To date, Hill has not heard an apology from the cornerback. Nor did Jackson inquire about the Saints pro’s health.

In reviewing the scene, the playmaker, who was playing receiver in the situation, also felt that Jackson was deliberately aiming for his head. Nevertheless, he did not want to describe the action as “dirty”. “It certainly looked like he wasn’t trying to get the ball. But I’ve never played defence so I don’t know what that’s like,” Hill explained further.

Last week he returned to the training pitch for the first time since week five.
