New Orleans Saints: Alvin Kamara suspended by NFL

In February 2022, Alvin Kamara was arrested after a fight in Las Vegas. Now the RB is suspended for it.

Alvin Kamara will be suspended for three games according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. This stems from an incident in 2022 when he was involved in an altercation at a Las Vegas casino.

For aggravated assault, Kamara was already on trial last year because of this. At a Las Vegas casino, Kamara and three other men, including Indianapolis Colts conerback Chris Lammons, had punched Darnell Greene Jr. multiple times.

Alvin Kamara accepted plea deal from prosecutors

Surveillance video confirmed the allegations against the Saints running back. A few weeks ago, the NFL star accepted a plea deal from prosecutors to avoid a lengthy trial and harsher sentence

In addition to a $105,000 pain and suffering award paid to the victim, Kamara was required to complete 30 hours of community service.

New Orleans Saints: Is it time for Jamaal Williams to go?

Saints head coach Dennis Allen had announced that the running back had expressed a desire to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to give his side of the story before the league decides on a possible suspension. Now, however, Kamara will be suspended anyway.

“I embarrassed the Saints, I embarrassed my family, I embarrassed my mother. I embarrassed myself, embarrassed the city, and the shield obviously embarrassed the NFL,” Kamara was quoted as saying by reporters.

So with the expected suspension, Kamara will be out of the starting lineup for the 2023 NFL season, which will also hurt the Saints athletically. However, the New Orleans Saints have already taken precautions in the offseason: With Jamaal Williams, they signed the player with the most rushing touchdowns (17) last season. According to Schefter, the Saints plan to rely heavily on the Saints rookie during Kamara’s suspension.

Kamara also gets off lightly with a three-game suspension. According to NFL guidelines, a suspension of at least six games was imposed in comparable cases.

In addition to Kamara, Schefter said Chris Lammons (Indianapolis Colts), who was also involved in the Las Vegas incident, will be suspended for three games.
