Inflammation of the oesophagus: Dominik Eberle reveals reason for Packers exit

The Green Bay Packers had recently surprisingly released Dominik Eberle. Now the kicker explains that a serious illness was the reason

Munich/Green Bay – Only a week ago it was announced that the Green Bay Packers had parted ways with their German kicker Dominik Eberle after only four months.

Now the native of Nuremberg revealed the reasons for the dismissal. As he explained on his “Twitch” channel, massive health problems had meant that the Packers could not keep him on.

“It got worse and worse. And all of a sudden I was throwing up and just blood was coming out,” Eberle told his tale of woe.

He was diagnosed with inflammation of the oesophagus. The esophagus was “only a third of its normal size”, said Eberle. That is why the 25-year-old could only eat a little, lost a lot of weight and had to throw up frequently.

Eberle had the feeling of choking

The frequent feeling of almost choking was also due to the illness, he said.

After he informed his coaches at the Packers, they initially advised him to rest and take a break. Eberle, however, kept going before deciding to take a break. He had felt that he no longer had the old power.

However, the Green Bay team told him that they could no longer employ him and brought in Gabe Brkic as a replacement.

The separation did not leave any bad blood, Eberle affirmed. He would rather look ahead anyway and stated that his goal was to become completely fit again.

He is putting everything else on the back burner at the moment.
