After a third straight loss, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not mincing words when it comes to criticising his teammates. Head coach Matt LaFleur responds to his playmaker’s words.
Munich – Things are not going well for the Green Bay Packers. The franchise recently lost three games in a row, and in his weekly appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show”, quarterback superstar Aaron Rodgers therefore launched into sharp criticism.
He criticised that his teammates make mistakes 20 percent of the time. According to the report, the susceptibility to mistakes had increased significantly compared to previous years.
“I think guys who make too many mistakes should not play. We need to take some reps out. And maybe guys who aren’t playing should be given a chance,” he also indirectly criticised head coach Matt LaFleur.
LaFleur responds to criticism from Rodgers
The latter has now commented on his playmaker’s statements in a conversation with US reporters. Asked if Rodgers’ comments would affect LaFleur’s ability to communicate with his team, he replied, “I think we have to be honest with each other, and sometimes the truth hurts. “
And further, “It’s no different than when your children make a mistake,” he addressed the journalists directly. “You have to tell them.” Accordingly, LaFleur is certain that Rodgers “did not publicly berate individuals”.
“I didn’t listen to the whole thing. I think you have to get to the bottom of the truth. And that gives you the opportunity to learn and grow. We can’t run away from that, ever. “
Were the Rodgers statements addressed with the Packers?
When asked if the superstar’s comments were discussed among the team, LaFleur said, “We definitely addressed accountability and how we’re all responsible for each other. We need everyone to do everything right. So all the little things will add up to big things.”
So the head coach is sure Rodgers was simply saying that everyone has to do their best. “And that starts with us coaches. We have to make sure that we take care of the details, that we don’t just teach the players the fundamentals and plays. They can never experience a game situation first in the game, they have to be prepared for it.”
The Packers currently stand at a record of 3-4, with a more than difficult opponent awaiting next weekend in the Buffalo Bills.
