Green Bay Packers: Ahead of touchdown record! Brett Favre with advice for Aaron Rodgers

On Saturday (25.12.) Aaron Rodgers could set an old record of quarterback legend Brett Favre in Week 16 of the current NFL season. The latter has some fitting advice ready for his successor.

Munich – Because of his exceptional performances with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers has been compared to Brett Favre since he passed the torch.

In the Packers’ Week 16 home game Saturday (Dec. 25) against the Cleveland Browns, Rodgers could finally surpass his old teacher in one category. If he scores a passing touchdown against the Browns, he would score the 442nd of his career and become the Packers’ sole record holder.

For Favre, who currently shares the record with Rodgers, it was only a matter of time: “He’s going to break every record there is. He’s better right now than he’s ever been and shows no signs of changing anytime soon,” the now 52-year-old told “SiriusXM NFL Radio.”

Favre’s advice: “Enjoy the moment “

As Rodgers explained at a press conference Tuesday, he received advice from Favre some time ago that he has taken to heart ever since: “‘Enjoy the moment because time goes by so fast, the next moment it can be over.’ I’ve been living by that for years now,” said the reigning MVP.

Before the 38-year-old became a superstar with the Packers, he previously spent three years learning behind Favre: “I thought to myself at the time, ‘He throws the ball better. He knows the system better. His instincts are better.’ But it was a perfect fit because I knew exactly how I still had to work on myself,” he praised his predecessor.

Because Favre eventually fell out with the franchise and was traded to the New York Jets, Rodgers emerged as the new man in Green Bay. Many Packers fans are now hoping the same game doesn’t happen again.

“Whether he stays or goes… “

Because of offseason tensions between Rodgers and Packers officials, rumors have swirled for some time about an early summer departure. It is still completely open whether the superstar will remain in Green Bay next season.

“Whether he stays or goes to another team. Whoever he plays with, he’s going to make this team better in the end,” Favre assessed the situation. “He’s such a strong playmaker, probably the best there’s ever been,” he concluded.

If Rodgers scores his 443rd touchdown on Saturday, the game will be stopped for a brief tribute to the quarterback, the Packers announced. There’s a good chance the two Packers legends will clash then, too.
